Layers of an Onion

Peeling Layers of an Onion-2.png

Life isn't meant to be an existence.
Life is meant to be joy-filled, purposeful, and meaningful.

Yes, we can't necessarily feel these in every single moment of work + life, but as we start to switch our lens of discontent, frustration, and existing ... to a new lens of gratefulness ... most situations we are in start to look and feel more joy-filled.

Now, some things just need to be changed!

For example, are you ...

  • in a work situation that isn't sustainable?
  • feeling like life just doesn't feel right for you and/or your family right now?
  • in a toxic environment?
  • doing work that is opposite of your wiring?
  • at home full-time with the kids, feeling the pull to incorporate work back into your life somehow?

Like so many things, there are layers of a situation that need to be examined.

Think of it like an onion. Getting to the whole core intact, means peeling off each layer at a time.

As you think about your current work + life situation, what is one area where you are feeling more discontent and frustration than gratefulness?

Do you think it’s just a matter of switching your lens or does it need to be changed?

If it needs to be changed, let’s use this exercise* below to help us dig deeper on the “why’s” behind the challenge so we can move toward change.

    Write down your answer.
  3. Then look at that answer and go deeper – asking yourself again, "Why do I feel that?
    Write down your answer.
  4. Then look at that answer and go deeper – asking yourself again, "Why do I feel that?"
    Write down your answer.
  5. Then look at that answer and go deeper – asking yourself again, "Why do I feel that?"
    Write down your answer.
  6. Then look at that answer and go deeper – asking yourself again, "Why do I feel that?"
Write down your answer. ← THIS ANSWER SHOULD GET DOWN TO THE “ROOT CAUSE” OF THE CHALLENGE YOU ARE FACING.
